It must be (nearly) Spring!

It’s a time when flowers bloom, young lovers prance across the meadow, and the motorcycles emerge. The coming of spring is signaled by the roar of a V-twin, the scream of a road rocket, and the growl of a vintage tracker. There’s just something about this time of year.
For me, the rebirth of spring came in two 2-wheeled forms – a BMW and a Yamaha.
The Bimmer belongs to a friend of a friend. It’s a beautiful looking bike – a bold blue color scheme, classic mid-70’s styling, very clean. Turns out he needs some work on the bike, and my name came up. So, I’ll be doing some of my magic with this BMW.
The same day the BMW arrived at my place, I picked up another bike – a 1977 Yamaha XS750 “Triple” (the one in the picture). This one will be resold, and it’s going to be fun to work on.
The one hitch with the Triple isn’t shown in the picture. The gas tank looks in beautiful condition, no? No. The side you see is great. The side you don’t, well, isn’t. Finding a replacement may be difficult, but I am up to the task! The rest of the work will be about cleaning it up, tuning it up, and completely rebuilding the brakes (nothing like a fast bike that can’t stop, huh?).
I’ll keep you posted on these two, though I’m hoping they won’t stay in my possession long. Bikes belong out on the road, and I’m just trying to get them there…
